Candy AI vs My Dream Companion: Which One Is Actually Worth It?

These two apps serve genuinely different users, and picking the wrong one will leave you frustrated. I subscribed to both, spent real money on tokens, tested chatting, image and video generation, audio calls, and custom character creation across both platforms.

Candy AI vs Dream Companion

What Is Candy AI?

Candy AI is built around the idea that you shouldn’t have to do much work. The platform does it for you.

Creating account in Candy AI

You pick a girl, she’s already in a scenario, and the conversation kicks off with personality intact. The platform skews toward immersion over configuration. The image generator doesn’t ask you to write a prompt; it reads the chat context and produces something.

The trade-off is control. If you want to generate a specific image with a specific pose, you’ll find that frustrating. Candy AI is built for users who want to be swept along, not users who want to direct every detail.

What Is My Dream Companion?

My Dream Companion is more of a platform than a persona machine. Before your first chat even starts, you’re choosing between Roleplay and Texting modes, picking a memory depth, selecting an AI model tier, and dialing in a lust level slider that goes from ice cold to proactive and bold.

That granularity is the whole point. MDC is built for users who want to configure their experience, not just consume it.

How Much Do They Cost

Candy AI Pricing

  • €13.99/month (monthly), €8.99/month (3-month), €3.99/month (annual)
  • Includes 100 tokens per month
  • Additional tokens: €9.99 for 100 up to €299.99 for 3,750 (with up to 25% bonus at higher tiers)
  • Welcome offer: 200 tokens for €16 (a solid deal if you’re going to spend on images)

My Dream Companion Pricing

  • $11.99/month Premium (monthly), $69.35/year
  • $44.99/month Ultimate (monthly), $302.95/year — includes 800 coins, extended memory, advanced AI models, priority queue
  • Additional coins: $9.99 for 100 up to $149.99 for 3,750

The Real Cost Comparison

On paper, both plans give you 100 tokens/coins per month, but what those tokens actually buy differs meaningfully.

On Candy AI: 100 tokens gets you roughly 25 images, or 8 short videos (at 12 tokens each), or about 33 minutes of audio calls — but not all three. Once you’re out, you’re out.

On My Dream Companion: 100 coins gets you about 33 images, or 4 five-second videos, or just 12 minutes of live calls. The call cost is dramatically steeper at 8 coins per minute versus Candy’s 3.

For casual users who mostly chat, both plans are comparable. For users who want a lot of images or video, Candy AI’s token costs stack up fast.

Features Comparison

Custom AI Girlfriend

Both platforms follow the same basic build path — style (realistic or anime), ethnicity, hair, body type, breast size, personality, relationship. The execution differs.

On Candy AI, I built a curvy Latina with brown hair and huge breasts. The final result matched what I’d specified, and I cycled through three face options at 1 token each before landing on one I liked. Fast, clean, no friction.

On My Dream Companion, my first attempt at an Asian woman with gray eyes came out looking not Asian at all. But when I regenerated, MDC showed me the underlying prompt it used and let me edit it directly. That level of transparency is genuinely useful. I got a result I was happy with after one regeneration.

Verdict: Tie. Candy AI is faster and more beginner-friendly. MDC gives experienced users more levers to pull.

Chatting & Roleplay Quality

In my opinion, Candy AI is stronger here.

My girls Isabella Torres, didn’t just claim to be jealous. She went full caps-lock, called me names, swore at me, and then flipped completely warm the moment I de-escalated.

Making Isabella angry

That kind of emotional responsiveness, consistent across multiple characters I tested, is what separates a good AI girlfriend app from a mediocre one.

My Dream Companion gives you more pre-chat configuration. You can set memory depth, lust level, and chat mode. You get a lot of options, but the underlying persona felt thinner than Candy’s pre-built characters.

With MDC, you’re configuring a system; on Candy, you’re meeting someone.

Verdict: Candy AI for persona depth and immersion. My Dream Companion for configurable, long-form relationship building.

Image Generation

Candy AI’s images look genuinely realistic. The “show me the scene” system reads the chat context and generates accordingly.

It's a bit of a hit & miss, though. I was mid-argument with Isabella when I requested an image and got something completely unrelated to our fight, which is the downside of zero manual control.

My Dream Companion’s image system gives you full control. Pose, outfit, background, style, custom prompt. On paper that’s better. In practice, the results consistently looked AI-generated even in realistic mode, and my girl's face changed noticeably between generations using identical settings.

Generation speed: MDC wins easily at ~5 seconds. Candy takes about 10 seconds per image.

Verdict: Candy AI for quality and consistency. My Dream Companion for control and speed.

Video Generation

Candy AI’s videos impressed me. A 5-second clip takes about 15 seconds to generate, the motion looks natural, and in everything I generated, there were no visual glitches or morphing artifacts.

My Dream Companion’s videos were watchable but had that over-polished AI look that breaks immersion. When I requested a specific pose (doggy style), the video didn’t deliver it. Some generations followed my settings well; others didn’t. No glitches, but inconsistent adherence.

Verdict: Candy AI. More realistic output and better execution of the content it generates.

Memory & Continuity

This one goes clearly to My Dream Companion. You choose your memory window explicitly, and you know exactly what you’re getting. The auto-log every 20 messages adds another layer for longer sessions.

The cost implication is real: Genius model charges 5 coins per message, which burns through your 100-coin monthly allowance in 20 messages. You need to be deliberate about this, or you’ll run out fast.

Candy AI’s memory worked fine in my testing, but it’s invisible. No settings, no documentation. The Trustpilot reviews flag this as a problem in extended roleplay, with characters reverting to earlier attitudes mid-session.

Verdict: My Dream Companion. If memory matters to you, it’s not even close.

Voice & Audio

Candy AI’s TTS is not flat, not robotic. The audio call with a girl included giggling, smiling, real expressions in the voice. At 3 tokens per minute, your 100 monthly tokens buy about 33 minutes of calls, which is reasonable.

My Dream Companion’s voice quality was similarly impressive. Tone shifts, expressions, not flat. But at 8 coins per minute, your monthly 100-coin allowance only covers 12 minutes of live calls. That’s steep.

Verdict: Quality is a tie. Cost favors Candy AI significantly.

Privacy & Billing

Both handle this well. Candy AI charges appear as “EverAI Limited” on your bank statement. My Dream Companion appears as “MiracleAI”. Neither name screams what you’re actually paying for.

Canceling Candy AI took three clicks. Canceling My Dream Companion required sitting through a feedback questionnaire you couldn’t skip, which is a minor irritant. Both let you use benefits until the end of your billing cycle.

Verdict: Tie. Both apps handle this very well.

Community & Support

Candy AI has a Discord community of 80,000+ members and nearly 4,000 online when I checked. That’s a real, active community. The Trustpilot score sits at 3.8 stars from 300+ reviews, which is a meaningful sample size.

My Dream Companion has roughly 15,000 Discord members, with around 300 online during my visit. On Trustpilot, there are only five reviews total. Too small a sample to draw conclusions.

Verdict: Candy AI has a substantially larger and more established community, which also means better peer support and more confidence in long-term platform stability.

Who Should Choose Which

Choose Candy AI if

  • You want immersive, persona-driven roleplay without configuring anything
  • Image and video quality matter more than image control
  • You plan to use audio calls frequently (3 tokens/min is much more affordable)
  • You want a platform with an established community and track record
  • The Live Action feature sounds appealing, even in beta

Choose Dream Companion if

  • You want to control every aspect of the chat experience — memory, model, lust level
  • You’re building a long-term relationship and need reliable, configurable memory
  • You prefer a lower entry price and cheaper private album unlocks
  • You want to write your own image prompts and work with a proper generation interface
  • You’re on the annual plan — $5.78/month is genuinely competitive

Final Verdict

If you’re new to AI companion apps and want something that works without a learning curve, Candy AI is the better starting point.

If you’ve tried an AI girlfriend app before and felt like you couldn’t customize it enough, or if you want to build something that grows with you over weeks of conversation, My Dream Companion’s memory configuration and chat mode options are legitimately better. The image generator disappointed me, but if chatting is your primary use case, the platform is thoughtfully built.

My recommendation: start with Candy AI on the monthly plan. If you find yourself frustrated by the lack of image control or want deeper memory for long-term roleplay, MDC’s annual plan at under $6/month is worth a look.
