Here’s the math that matters: If you’re a daily user, Spicychat’s True Supporter at €13.95/month is cheaper than CrushOn’s Luxe at $39.99/month — and Spicychat gives you unlimited messages, not a capped number.

But there’s a catch: you need Spicychat’s All In plan (€23.95/month) for voice features. CrushOn includes voice on most paid tiers. So if voice matters to you, the gap narrows.

Bottom line: Spicychat wins on pricing transparency and value. One flat fee, everything included. CrushOn makes you do math.

1. Free Tier

Spicychat gives you a genuinely generous free experience. I exchanged about 30 messages with Gwen without hitting any paywall. You can browse the entire character library, create your own characters (seemingly without limit), and chat freely.

The only real limitations are shorter memory (around 30 messages) and no image generation or voice. Honestly, if you just want to chat, the free plan might be all you need.

CrushOn AI is more restrictive. You get 100 messages per month, and each message is capped at 225 characters. You can also create characters for free. I was surprised to receive images in the chat with each message.

You can also turn one text message into a voice message before hitting the paywall. It’s reasonable, not predatory, but you’ll feel the limit fast if you’re an active chatter.

Verdict: Spicychat wins easily. Unlimited free messages is rare in this space, and it changes the game for budget-conscious users.

2. Creating Characters

Spicychat lets you create characters, but it’s text-heavy. You describe everything through words. There’s no visual character creator. The app provides good documentation, but it feels like it’s built for people who enjoy writing.

I created three characters without hitting any limits, and each took about 10 minutes.

CrushOn AI goes deeper. You build not just a character, but a whole scenario. The setting, the events, the world. The app has guides on how to build good characters.

I used a prompt to generate a character named Lucy (my classmate that everyone has a crush on), and it took about 30 minutes to get everything right. The depth is there, but it requires significant effort.

There’s also Target Play, a gamification feature where you define goals and a status bar tracks progress. It’s a creative idea, but when I tested it, it didn’t work properly giving my character a compliment was supposed to decrease points, but she seemed flattered instead. You can switch between four models and toggle NSFW mode, but that’s it. Quality is acceptable in SFW mode, but NSFW images are terrible. Deformed body parts, unrealistic anime style, facial consistency issues.

CrushOn AI has no image generation. At all. You’ll get images in the free tier during chats, but they’re pre-generated by the character creator, not generated on demand. If image gen matters to you, CrushOn simply doesn’t compete.

This one is super easy. Neither app offers video generation.

Memory capacity scales with your plan: 1x on free, 2x on True Supporter, 4x on All In. In practice, this works well. My characters remembered details from earlier conversations.

CrushOn AI uses context window-based memory (8K–24K depending on plan). There’s no persistent memory system. Once you exceed the context window, the AI forgets. User reviews also complain about a 1000-character persona limit that hasn’t been increased despite community requests.

Verdict: Spicychat wins. Persistent memory is a game-changer for long-term relationships with your characters.

7. Voice & Audio

Spicychat offers voice only on the All In plan (€23.95/month). The default voice selection is okay. Not robotic, but with a flat AI quality. The custom voice cloning is the standout feature: I uploaded 5 seconds of my voice, waited 15 seconds, and got a clone that sounded very close to the original. If you have specific voice samples, this is a compelling feature.

CrushOn AI has better default voices. They sound human — tonality, expression, the works. The custom voice creator, however, doesn’t work well. I tried to clone a Chinese-accented female voice, but the result sounded very different from the sample.

Spicychat uses discreet billing: “NDAI.CHAT” appears on your bank statement. The checkout process uses secured card processing and was smooth.
